Environmental Justice

Environmental Justice
  1. Afri-Sud recognizes the importance of the environment for humans and animals through action for climate and life on land, as the thirteenth and fifteenth goals of the basic sustainable development goals.
  2. Therefore, it believes that every human being has the right to enjoy a clean environment free from pollution and to live in safety and peace, and the necessity of local communities participating in the process of making and implementing environmental laws, regulations and policies, and in the process of fair distribution of environmental benefits among members of society.
  3. Afri-Sud believes that protecting wildlife, plants, trees, rivers and valleys that constitute an environmental balance is a goal and a priority, as environmental justice is achieved through the integration of the two sustainable development goals of action for climate, and life on land, and the recognition of local communities and their participation in the environmental decision-making process.
  • Afri-Sud aims for environmental justice in the following:
  • Enabling communities to live in a sound, clean, healthy, just and upright environment.
  • Equal protection and effective participation of all people in environmental development.
  • Afri-Sud sees the principle of environmental justice as follows:Environmental justice requires making choices to consume less waste, making a conscious decision and re-prioritizing lifestyles to ensure a healthy environment and health in the present and future.
  • Afri-Sud sees the importance of environmental justice in:
  • Environmental justice is a human right, and when environmental justice is available, no group or community has enjoyed a privilege over other communities, especially when it comes to disasters, risks and environmental pollution, especially as a result of laws or policies.
  • Afri-Sud summarizes the problem of environmental justice as:
  • Most of the communities affected by environmental injustice are rural, agricultural and pastoral communities, and other populations who face environmental risks and unhealthy land uses.
  • How does Afri-Sud promote environmental justice?
  • Identifying the damage and then cleaning it up or removing it, reducing environmental injustice among communities, educating communities about climate crisis events, assessing the damage and helping to clean up environmental damage.
  • In order to make the environment better through environmental justice, Afri-Sud suggests the following:
  • Raising awareness of the importance of the environment and working to preserve it, which is a shared responsibility.
  • Reducing chemical and noise pollution.
  • Planting trees of all kinds because they help purify the air from harmful carbon dioxide.
